Friends from BiTC

These photos have been lingering in my computer for some time. These were taken when the BiTC students came to Singapore, just a week before we went to Beijing.. Brought them to Orchard Road and hanged out with this group of students thereafter. Really glad to be able to know them, they even took really good care of us when we were in Beijing.. 🙂

Last Day

It’s our last day in Beijing.

Time really passes very fast. 6 weeks is coming to an end.

Flying off tomorrow, back to our sunny island, away from this cold cold winterland, with the possibility of our flight being delayed.

As to whether i’m able to adapt back to the hot weather, it’s another question mark.

Gonna miss the super cheap prices, the cold weather, and the OTOT things here.

But looking forward to my house, family, BISY, and the non-bargaining shopping trips, and healthier food.

Guess what, within this 6 weeks, I’ve put on weight.. NO!!!!~~ Put on at least 2 kg, i think.. Even more NO!!!!!~~~~ Time to lose weight when i go back.. All the oil and salt in the food here has contributed to my extra weight.. sianz!!!~

Snowing AGAIN

HURRAY!!~ It’s now snowing once again!!~

It snowed the moment we finished singing the birthday song for Terry..

He’s so lucky to celebrate his 21st birthday with the snow..

And as usual, we ran down the moment we saw that it was snowing..

The snow today is even heavier/thicker than yesterday..

Let’s hope we can build a snowman tomorrow.. 🙂

Here comes the snow!!~

After waiting for 5 weeks, and with only 1 week left.. It finally snowed around 2am today!!~ Was sleeping when it started snowing, got woken up thinking that perhaps a fire had broken out. lolx.. But, it turned out the other way.. And thankfully, our whole building was excited over the snow, that they made so much noise, knocking on doors, alerting one another that there was snow.. If it wasnt for them, I would have slept throughout..

Quickly went down to get the “feel” of the snow. Surprisingly, didnt feel cold at all, while out in the snow, even though wasnt wearing as much layers compared to times when it isnt snowing. Spent around 15 mins out in the snow before going back to sleep.

Woke up to a beautiful white sight of the field.. The sight was just soo  awesome.. Played in the snow once again after breakfast. Had “snow-fight”, wrote in the snow and definitely not forgetting, creating an “angel”, by lying in the snow  and flapping your hands and legs. lolx.. Heard it’s gonna snow from 6am all the way till the next day tomorrow.. *excited* at least I can get to see the snow in the day time.

Failed attempt in conquering The Great Wall of China

Went to the Great Wall of China and the Temple of Heavens today.. The weather today was terrible, especially when we were at The Great Wall of China.. Heard the temperature reached to a swooping low of -15 degrees.. What’s worst is the strong winds.. The winds were really able to push you along your way.. Had a hard time walking and breathing at the same time.. So in the end, I decided to surrender to the horrible weathers half way up the Great Wall.. Dun really think it’s a good time to climb The Great Wall in winter.. Hopefully, i’ll be able to “conquer” it one day.. 🙂

Carrefour Shopping

It was our free and easy day today.. Decided to go over to Carrefour. But before that, we decided to treat ourself better, by sleeping it till 12pm.. It has been some time since we managed to sleep till that late..

Initially, I had the thought that the whole shopping centre was Carrefour alone.. But I was wrong, it actually only took up 2 floors of the shopping centre.. And the rest were all different shops.. However, the shopping centre itself is extremely huge.. Too many shops selling nice things at a nice price too.. hahaz.. But at least the the quality of the things there can be guaranteed. Almpst the whole shopping centre was having sales..

Decided to have a quick bite since we were kinda hungry.. Settled with those “take-away” type of Sushi. We looked kinda poor thing from the photo.. lolx

After walking for almost 1,2 hours looking at the clothes, we went to Carrefour to see if any grocery shopping could be done.. Along the way, saw the sign for Kappa.. It was rather cute/funny, especially it’s slogan that says “Sexy Quality”. Bought lots of things at Carrefour, we even bought Soju to try.. It isnt really that nice though.. Korea’s Rice Wine tastes better.. How great if it could be found here.. And it’s especially great to drink it in this type of cold weather.. Saw a microwavable Popcorn.. It looked nice, but we should never judge a book by its cover.. It’s actually tasteless.. Totally tasteless..

Had dinner at the food court. The Korean food in China tastes way better than those in Singapore, excluding those Korean Restaurants. And oh, did I mention that there are actually staffs who would operate the lifts for you. Such as they’ll press the buttons everything for you when you get into the lift.

Shivering cold weather

Woke up this morning with full body aches.. Badminton yesterday must have been the reason..

It’s another outing day today..

Visited 北京大学(Beijing University) 颐和园(The Summerplace) and The Bird Nest Stadium.

The weather today was super bad.. It was really freezing cold.. We were really shivering in the cold..

Initially had wanted to wait for the light-up of The Bird Nest Stadium.

But the cold weather was unbearable and we gave up waiting.. lolx..

Had charcoal steamboat for dinner, and now, my clothes stink of charcoal smoke.. :p

Badminton in Winter

After so long, finally did some exercise.. Played Badminton for 2 hours straight..

The feeling of playing in winter is so much different..

I shall play it once again very soon.. :p

Had a good sweat.. Feel recharged and hands aching..

I foresee myself aching all over tomorrow.. lolx

My 1st 4 days in Beijing

I’m having problems updating my blog. Guess the Internet doesn’t like me.. But I’ve found out that I could actually update my blog by sending an email. Let’s hope that this really works.. *prays hard* To make things simple, here’s my short update on my 1st 4 days.. 🙂

1 Dec 09

I’ve finally touched down in Beijing yesterday…The weather here is freezing.. The wind is absolutely chilling.. The seat on the plane was just scary, it smells like the toilet. :p The weather isnt that bad, only around 8 degrees, well, it’s better as compared to the past few weeks, in which the temperature dipped all the way down to minus degrees. Reached Beijing around 12am. There’s 1 thing that’s special about Beijing Airport, you wont be able to claim your luggage the moment you get off, instead, you’ll have to take a train to another terminal to claim your luggage.. so cute!!~ Didnt expect the campus is rather near to the airport.. It took us about 20mins to reach campus.Quickly settled down, and turned in for the night at almost 3am.. And the night was just simply freezing..

Woke up the next day at 8am.. Didnt start our project on the 2nd day, but instead, we went to familarise ourselves with the campus’s environment and didi some “grocery” shopping. Had dinner at this Chinese restaurant, had their Peking duck too, and the meat was just so tender.. The pricing of their food here is just simply awesome!! A table of 9 of us ordered a few dishes and guess what, it cost us only RMB$140!!~ That’s equivalent to SGD$28 only!! lolx..

2 Dec 09

We finally started doing our project. Our lab is just so warm, which is actually a good thing. Wanted to have lunch at the school’s canteen, but it was already crowded when we reached there, even when we had left early. Decided to have cup noodles back at our hostel instead.. Can I mention that their method of “take-away” is just so …. They just simply put the food in a plastic bag, instead of giving you a container for it..

After class, we went down to the warehouse to take a look at the winter clothing’s. Really realized that bargaining is definitely a must at that kind of place. Didn’t buy anything as they were preparing to close, by the time we went over. Had something like BBQ Mongolian food. It was nice. Think their speciality was lamb meat.

3 Dec 09

Temperature today was extremely cold, think the lowest was minus 1 degrees. Had Beijing’s version of Shabu-Shabu for lunch.. It was a great meal to have, especially in such a cold weather. The portion was rather big.. But didn’t really like their prawn balls, it was just basically flour. And no matter how long you cook it, it’s still like flour, powdery powdery taste.

After class today, we went down to the warehouse once again since I really had to get a coat for the outing tomorrow. Bought a down jacket for RMB$130.. Didn’t really bargain much as it was simply too cold and I was just too tired..

Went to a dumpling store for dinner, really liked their “shui jiao”.. Their “Xiao long bao” is so different from ours, it’s just like eating a bun with some meat inside, the skin is kinda thick.

4 Dec 09

Had our very first outing today. Woke up super early at 6.30 am and set off at 7.30am.. *yawns *

Our destinations for the day was the 国家大剧院,故宫&王府井. The weather today was totally not good.. It was super cold and super windy.. *brrrrr *.. The “国家大剧院” is equivalent to our Esplanade. It’s really big and has a high society standard feeling. One thing that I really like about that building is that on the outside, there’s a “pool” next to the building, but in actual fact, it’s a glass panel of the basement storey of the 国家大剧院。

Next was the 故宫, which is equivalent to our Istana, but its way bigger. We spent almost 3 hours in there. There were many exhibits of the ancient times.

Our final stop of the day was Beijing’s “Orhard Road” which is called 王府井.They had Lotte Shopping Centre there.. But sadly, didn’t manage to go in to take a look.. But we’ll definitely go back there soon.. Specially went to the food street there to take a look… Or perhaps to specially find Scorpions to eat.. lolx.. And we managed to find stalls selling them.. So we ordered them to try.. It wasn’t that bad, it tasted like fried egg when you order Fish soup, just that it’s abit too salty.. lolx..Terry had a go at the cocoon, but that was a no no for me.. Walked down the street and saw other stalls selling starfish and so on..
